Dynamic finger orthosis designed to support the gradual recovery of finger extension
This finger extension splint is designed to support rehabilitation when a finger is stiff or cannot fully straighten. Its progressive traction system helps mobilise the affected joint in a controlled manner, according to the recommendations of a healthcare professional.
The finger extension splint is a rehabilitation orthosis designed to gradually assist the straightening of a finger with limited extension. It mainly acts on the middle joint of the finger, known as the proximal interphalangeal joint.
Its assisted traction mechanism applies progressive force to help improve finger mobility. The level of correction and duration of use should be adapted to the user’s condition, the degree of joint stiffness and the rehabilitation objective.
The support points around the finger help keep the orthosis in position while distributing pressure more evenly. Its lightweight design makes it easier to wear during prescribed mobilisation or rehabilitation sessions.
This type of splint may be used after tendon surgery, following tendon repair, in cases of joint stiffness or when finger extension needs to be recovered gradually. It should not be adjusted too tightly, as excessive traction may cause pain, pressure or skin irritation.
At OrthoGreen Mobility, an orthopaedic bandagist and medical equipment store in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, Brussels, we assist you in choosing and fitting a splint suited to the affected finger, your prescription and your rehabilitation goals.
